Hola, soy Noah Schamuells y desde 2011 me dedico a la divulgación científica. Me gradué en la Universidad de Barcelona, en el grado de Geología. Posteriormente, me especialicé en la exploración de yacimientos minerales y vulcanología.

Hi, I’m Noah Schamuells, and since 2011, I’ve been dedicated to science communication. I graduated from the University of Barcelona with a degree in Geology. Later, I specialized in mineral deposit exploration and volcanology

Mis primeros trabajos geológicos fueron en una mina y luego en el Instituto de Geociencias de Barcelona (GEO3BCN), donde conocí a algunas personas que se han convertido en un apoyo primordial para lo que soy ahora, dibujante, editor y divulgador de contenidos de Ciencias de la Tierra.

My first geology jobs were at a mine and later at the Barcelona Institute of Geosciences, where I met some people who have become essential to who I am today—an illustrator, editor, and communicator of Earth Science content.

Ahora mismo trabajo en lo que nunca soñé. De hecho, mi pasión es escribir, aunque disfruto mucho editando vídeos y creando contenido que haga que la gente ame las piedras (puedes verlo en Instagram). He publicado varios libros de divulgación, como el de los Volkis o el del Domo de Ataun, pero sigo trabajando para traer más contenido diverso, accesible y amable (e inclusivo).

“Right now, I’m working in a field I never dreamed of. In fact, my passion is writing—though I also love editing videos and creating content that makes people fall in love with rocks (you can check it out on Instagram). I’ve published several science communication books, like the one on The Volkis or The Ataun Dome, but I’m still working to bring more diverse, accessible, and engaging (and inclusive) content to the table.”

Empecé mi carrera en divulgación en Facebook, subiendo memes en una página que llamé “Razones para Salir con un Geólogo”. Muchos años después, esa página pasó a Instagram y se renombró como “Salir con una Geóloga”. Fue entonces cuando mi carrera en divulgación despegó de manera más potente.

I began my science communication career on Facebook, posting memes on a page I called ‘Reasons to Date a Geologist.’ Many years later, that page moved to Instagram and was renamed ‘Dating a Geologist’—that’s when my outreach career really took off in a big way.

Quienes me seguís desde hace años, sabréis que antes fui Nia, y ahora soy Noah, un cambio significativo. Me siento cómodo, cada vez más fuerte y motivado para seguir haciendo lo que me gusta. Aunque he tenido momentos de bajón, creo que, incluso en los metamorfismos más duros, aquí seguiré estando.

Those of you who’ve followed me for years know I used to be Nia, and now I’m Noah—a significant change. I feel comfortable, stronger than ever, and motivated to keep doing what I love. Even though I’ve had some low moments, I believe that no matter how tough the metamorphism gets, I’ll still be here.
